Terms of Use

Last updated: 25 August 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Alma Math iPad app and related services (“Alma”). By downloading, subscribing to or using Alma, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Alma.

2. Who provides Alma

Alma is provided by Alma Math Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16806901. Our registered office is 18 Transmere Road Transmere Road, Petts Wood, Orpington, England, BR5 1DU. Contact us at benj@almamath.com.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13, or the higher minimum age required in your country, to use Alma. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. You must provide accurate information, protect your device and sign-in credentials, and must not share or misuse another person's account.

4. Free features, Alma Pro and offers

Alma may provide free features and paid Alma Pro access. Alma Pro is offered through Apple as monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions. Available plans, features, eligibility, trial or promotional period, duration, local price and the price charged after an offer are shown in the App Store purchase sheet before you confirm. That purchase sheet controls the commercial details of your purchase.

An offer is available only to users Apple identifies as eligible. If you begin a free or discounted offer, it converts to the displayed paid subscription at the end of the offer unless you cancel before the renewal point shown by Apple.

5. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds

Apple processes payment using your Apple Account. An auto-renewable subscription renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. Apple displays the renewal price and handles any required notice or consent for price changes. Cancelling stops future renewal but normally leaves access in place until the end of the paid period.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in Apple Account settings. You can restore an eligible purchase from Alma. Refund requests are decided by Apple under its policies and applicable law and can be made through Apple's Report a Problem service. Cancelling an Alma account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not delete the Alma account.

6. Educational and AI guidance

Alma is a study and practice tool. Its marking, explanations, generated questions, transcription and other AI-assisted output may be incomplete or wrong and should be checked. Alma does not replace a teacher, school, exam board, medical professional or other qualified adviser, and we do not guarantee grades, exam results, admissions or any other outcome. You remain responsible for submitted work and for decisions you make using Alma.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of content you create or submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, transmit, adapt and display that content only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, support and improve Alma. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where a limited copy must remain for legal, security or technical reasons described in our Privacy Policy, or where content has been shared with others and cannot reasonably be recalled.

You must have the rights and permissions needed for anything you submit. Do not submit another person's confidential information or unnecessary sensitive personal data.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use Alma unlawfully, fraudulently or to infringe another person's rights;
  • harass, exploit or harm another person, including a child;
  • upload malware or interfere with Alma, its safeguards, servers or networks;
  • scrape, reverse engineer, resell or commercially exploit Alma except where applicable law does not allow that restriction; or
  • misuse generated content as your own assessed work contrary to the rules of your school, university or exam provider.

9. Our intellectual property

Alma, its software, design, branding and supplied content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. Subject to these Terms and the App Store usage rules, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use Alma on Apple-branded devices you own or control, including through Family Sharing where Apple permits it.

10. Third-party services

Alma depends on services supplied by Apple and other providers and may offer optional integrations. Their own terms may apply to your direct relationship with them. We are not responsible for a third-party service outside our control, but this does not affect any legal responsibility we cannot exclude.

11. Changes and availability

We may update Alma to improve features, security or compatibility. We may change or discontinue a feature and will give reasonable notice of a material adverse change where practicable. We do not promise that Alma will always be available or error-free. If a paid service is materially withdrawn, your rights under applicable consumer law remain unaffected.

12. Suspension, termination and deletion

You may stop using Alma at any time and can request account deletion inside the app. We may suspend or terminate access where you materially breach these Terms, create a security risk, fail to pay, or where law requires it. Where appropriate, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes and which limited records may remain.

13. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing affects mandatory consumer rights, including rights relating to digital content that is not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose or as described.

Subject to those rights, Alma is provided on an “as available” basis. We are not responsible for a loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, a loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or a business loss suffered by someone using Alma for personal purposes. You should keep copies of important work and verify important educational output.

14. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and the choices available to you.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for legal, security or product reasons. We will post the updated version and date and, for a material change, provide additional notice where appropriate. A change does not remove rights you have already acquired under applicable law. If you do not accept an updated version, you should stop using Alma and cancel any future subscription renewal.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections given by the law of the country where you live and may bring proceedings in any court available to you under that law. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.

17. Apple-specific terms

These Terms are between you and Alma Math Ltd, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Alma or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If Alma fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the applicable purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims relating to Alma, including product-liability, regulatory, consumer-protection or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you once you accept them.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to benj@almamath.com or by post to Alma Math Ltd at the registered office stated above.
